It's becoming a 50-something world and I'm here for it. I also welcomed this news... we all shift and evolve and interests change. Why shouldn't we see that reflected in media too?

This backyard is looking so pretty. Who knew there was such a thing as an instant boxwood hedge?

When have you felt the kindness of strangers? Let me tell you about mine...

It happened to me at the mall two weeks before Christmas. Chloe about two years old and I was wrangling her and a stroller laden with gifts and winter coats. We had been shopping in The Children's Place and she did. not. want. to. leave! So she threw herself on the floor, crying and tantruming. The sound echoed through the mall filled with holiday shoppers.

I had no choice but to scoop her up under one arm and push the heavy stroller with the other. When I got far enough from the shop entrance (and away from the staring eyes), I put her down, got down on my knees, and looked her straight in the eye:

"Chloe. Chloe. Calm down"

More sobs. But she looked up, her arms limp at her side, in an expression that moms will recognize as a mix of frustration and needing a nap

"Chloe, do you need a hug?"

And so I gave her a hug. It calmed her down, though now I myself was on the verge of tears.

When suddenly, an older woman came by, touched me on the shoulder and said:

"You're doing a good job, mom"

Six simple words. As a young mother who was constantly questioning her ability to do this parenthood thing right, it was what I needed to hear. I still need to hear it somedays. So I hold onto that memory and never forget that moment of kindness.

Have a wonderful weekend, lovelies!
