My New Christmas Home Decor Collection (and a Free Download for You!)
What's on your bucket list? Creating a physical product has long been on my
list of Must Do's. I've created
digital products and printables. I've selected fabrics to create
a pillow collection. But designing my own product from scratch, getting it manufactured and
selling it? That's something I've never done before.
HomeStory Goods
I knew I couldn't do it on my own though. While I have great ideas, a sharp
eye for design, and the business background to get an online shop up and
running, the ability to actually draw and illustrate for products is a skill I
do not possess. Which is why I was thrilled that my friend Sarah from
Pewter & Sage
said 'Yes!' to working together to make our product(s) happen! And so, I'd
like to introduce you to our new HomeStory Goods Shop.
Sarah
is a long-time online friend and an incredible artist (you need to see
her hand-painted signs!). We share a love of family, vintage style, and a fondness for simpler
times. We believe in slow decorating, shun fast consumption, and are mindful
of what we bring into and toss out of our homes.
Our store tagline says it all: nostalgic goods for modern homes. A conscious
blending of old & new.
We wanted to imbue those shared values into timeless products for the holiday
season. We wanted to create items that you'll pull out again and again at
Christmastime. Things that feel fresh yet familiar.
Let me introduce you to our first collection,
Maison (and stick around because I have free giveaway for you!).
Maison Collection
Maison - Noun. The French word for house, home, dwelling.
"Homes" take on such a special meaning during the holidays and we wanted to
devote this first collection to celebrating home as a gathering place. We took
our inspiration from traditional English style. It's a more-is-more look
defined by saturated colours, geometric and botanical patterns, and classic
charm and comfort.
Our
Maison Christmas home decor collection
comes alive with a bold hunter green and crimson red palette. It features
cardinals and woodpeckers and the greenery of winter, including holly,
poinsettias, and mistletoe.
We were inspired by the work of
William Morris
and you'll see the common theme of flora and fauna in
the cardinal design
by Sarah. That lush, all-over design can be found on our 20"x12" lumbar
pillow, mug, and instant download print.
To keep the collection from feeling too vintagey, we've also brought in a
modern block print design. The hand-drawn holly isn't block printed on the fabric, but you get the
same effect with the geometric repeat pattern. Playing with scale on two of
the pillows (the
22"x22" pillow
has an oversized holly, the
18" pillow
has a smaller pattern) feels fresh but allows the pillows to coordinate.
Two-Sided Pillows
In these turbulent times, we're all a bit more mindful of where we spend our
money. Sarah and I wanted to maximize the value of our pillows. Pillows can be
viewed as trendy and disposable but we wanted ours to be a small investment
that you would love and cherish over the years. How to do that? By giving our
pillows different designs on the back and front.
The pillows have been designed to work together
for an easy, coordinated look. With three different pillows and two different
designs each, you can create many different styles for your pillowscape. We've
paired the more traditional blockprint and cardinal designs with a graphic
grid, classic gingham, and timeless ticking stripes.
You can go vintage and traditional, or swing more country casual. It's up to
you.
Christmas Mugs
There's no better way to enjoy the holidays than with a mug with a hot drink
to keep your hands and belly warm. The
15oz holly mug
is the perfect size for hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and
sprinkles.
The
11oz cardinal mug
is the one you'll love to see on your desk, throughout the winter. It's
festive without being too Christmassy. I think it makes a lovely gift for the
teacher, a co-worker, or your favourite aunt.
Christmas Print
Last in the collection is our downloadable print. You can bring an instant feeling of Christmas to your home by
displaying this on your walls. Your purchase comes with four different sizes
that you can use as art, or print the small size on cardstock to use as a
Christmas card.

Sarah and I really love the classic but bold berry red and hunter green
palette of the Maison Collection and we hope you do too. We hope you'll
visit our shop and bring some of these pieces to your home - but we don't want you to
leave empty handed!
To celebrate the launch of the Maison Collection, we're offering you these
free Christmas Hang Tags. How cute are the patterns on these gift tags?
Just print and cut them out, use a hole punch, and add some twine to create
hang tags for all your presents.
Sign up below to receive your tags. You'll receive my newsletter as well and can unsubscribe or change your email preferences at any time.
We'd love for you to tag me (@ramblingreno) or Sarah (@pewterandsage) if you use them! Show us how they add English style to your holiday home.
