Spring Living Room Decor for 2022
It's feeling decidedly un-springlike here in Toronto, but that's not going to
stop me from trying to channel warm spring vibes indoors. The Seasonal
Simplicity spring series continues today with my blogger friends and I sharing
our living rooms. Come have a look as I share some of my spring living room
decor ideas for 2022.
Spring Living Room Decor Ideas
Decorating for spring is one of those things that can be done easily using
what you have. There's no need to buy all new decor accessories. You can
create a fresh and inviting look with a few key ideas. The first thing I do
when decorating for spring? Clear out all the clutter.
Clear and Organize
It feels good to banish the heaviness of winter and invite a lighter, brighter
feeling into your home. How can you do that?
First step is to clean the room and put away any clutter. Now's the time to
wipe down baseboards, dust off the window coverings and clean your windows.
Who doesn't love opening the windows and trading stale air for fresh spring
breezes?
Change Your Textiles
Bringing in lighter accessories can be an instant mood lifter. Switch wool
throws and faux fur cushion covers for lighter materials. Go for materials
that have a bit of texture like boucle or cotton blends. It's still a bit
chilly these days so keep some throws around.
Edit Your Accessories
Whereas winter is all about creating coziness and warmth, spring living room
decor can use a more judicious touch. Keep your surfaces edited by decorating
with a few well-chosen accessories. As we transition to warmer weather, opting
for a less is more approach means less time spent cleaning and a lighter
feeling overall.
On bookcases, shelves, and coffee table tops, you can place objects together
to create attractive vignettes. And don't feel like you have to decorate every
surface either. Leaving some spaces more sparsely decorated or empty helps
bring attention to what you do have in the room!
Add Plants and Flowers
It's also a great time to start to bring in more colour and specifically, the
colour green! Nothing conveys the vibrant, hopeful feeling of spring more than
green.
This is the time of year when we're eagerly awaiting the first shoots of
spring flowers to appear and buds to start to bloom on trees. Using real or
faux plants can literally bring life to a room. I love to bring in large
tropical plants into the living room. Their scale suits a large space and
their big leaves add an eye-catching hit of colour.
Bring In Spring Colours
Spring decor can be playful too. Easter is just around the corner so pastel
hues of pink, yellow, and lilac are always welcome in a spring living room.
I like to incorporate a few ceramic bunny figurines and painted eggs in our
spring decor. They give a taste of the season without being too themey.
Spring bouquets are beautiful to look at but they can tend to fade quickly.
Here's one handy tip: mix in faux flowers with your real ones to get a full
and lush look. As your real flowers start to die, replace them with more faux
flowers and you'll have a springtime bouquet that lasts you all season long!
Change Your Artwork
One super easy spring decor idea? Change out your artwork. My winter art
features snowy landscapes and winter scenes but for spring, I'll start to
bring in nature-inspired botanicals and more verdant landscape and seascape
prints.
Free vintage downloadable art
is still my first choice. The mellow tones of vintage art feel right for this
time of year. You can also take the opportunity to venture out and visit your
favourite thrift and antique stores.
With these spring living room decor ideas, our home has taken on a lighter,
breezier feel. I only wish the snow outside would melt and then spring would
feel like its really here!
