The Our Place Perfect Pot And My Favourite Filipino Recipe
Are you thinking about the holidays already? It seems that planning for
Christmas is starting sooner than ever this year and I'm all for it! I'm so
looking forward to larger gatherings and making new memories with family and
friends.
All the news warnings about shipping delays and low inventories has prompted
me to get a head start on my shopping. This year, I want to be really
thoughtful about the things I buy which is why I'm so excited to tell you
about the Our Place
Always Pan
and
Perfect Pot. They are at the top of my gift giving list, plus I have an exclusive savings code for you to enjoy!
Our Place Savings Code
What I love most about the pan is how versatile it is. It's your fry pan,
sauté pan, steamer, skillet, saucier, saucepan, non-stick pan, spatula, and
spoon rest. Not to mention it comes in 10 different colours that are so
pretty, you'll want to leave the pan out all the time. The newest colour,
Blanch, is a fresh light blue that would look great in a coastal
interior.
What colour would you pick? I'm excited to offer you an exclusive savings code if you want to bring any Our Place products to your home. Use code RAMBLINGRENO10 to save 10% off anything on the Our Place website (excluding gift cards). Also, shipping and returns are always FREE, including to Canada!

Meet the Perfect Pot
When the Our Place team reached out about the new
Perfect Pot, I was intrigued. I frequently use a large pot when I'm cooking and my
old one was definitely in need of replacement. But would the Perfect Pot
meet my needs? Would it be as easy to use and reliable as the Always Pan?
The answer was a resounding yes. The Perfect Pot is the Always Pan’s (New)
Best Friend. It’s a dutch oven, stock pot, saucepan, roasting rack,
steamer, colander and braiser combined with a built-in spoon system.
The pot is also surprisingly lightweight and for any recipes that you want to finish off in the oven, this pot is
perfect for that since it’s oven safe.

Filipino Chicken Adobo with Potatoes and Garlic Rice
To give the Perfect Pot a test, I decided to make one of my favourite comfort foods, Filipino chicken adobo with potatoes and garlic rice.
I don't cook too many Filipino recipes but this is one that Sean, Chloe and I all love. Chicken adobo is a classic Filipino dish that uses soya sauce, white vinegar, garlic, black peppercorns, and bay leaves. You might think that would taste sour, but the soy and vinegar combine to create a balanced and flavourful dish.
Typically, adobo is cooked with chicken or pork but I've added in some potatoes that I needed to use up. When I'm pressed for time, I pair this dish with simple steamed jasmine rice but this time, I went the extra step and made a garlic fried rice.
Using both the Always Pan and Perfect Pot at the same time allowed me to prepare dinner very quickly.
Even better, you can transfer the pot and pan right to the table. They add pretty colour to your table setting (and you don't need to wash any extra serving dishes!). Just be careful when you're moving the cookware as the handles do get hot while cooking.
Chicken Adobo Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 6 chicken thighs
- 3/4 c soy sauce
- 3/4 c white vinegar
- 6 cloves minced garlic
- 1 lb golden potatoes quartered
- 1 tsp patis (fish sauce)
- 6 bay leaves
- 2 tsp black peppercorns
- 2 stalks green onions sliced
Instructions:
- Add the soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, fish sauce, bay leaves, and peppercorns into a large bowl. Stir to combine
- Add the chicken and potatoes. Mix together and marinade for two hours.
- Heat the Perfect Pot to medium heat. Add the chicken skin side down and sear for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Transfer the chicken to a separate plate.
- Add the potatoes and marinade to the pot. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
- Add the chicken back in. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat. Cook at a low simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle with green onions and serve. Remove the bay leaf before eating. And don't eat the peppercorns, unless you really really enjoy pepper :)
Garlic Fried Rice Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups uncooked jasmine rice. I use this brand.
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 stalks green onions sliced
- salt to taste
Instructions:
- Cook the jasmine rice in the Always Pan according to instructions on the package.
- Remove the cooked rice from the pan and let cool for 10 minutes. Wash the pan.
- Put the pan over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the garlic and 2/3 of the green onions and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cooked rice and toss to coat well. Add salt as needed. Serve and top with the remaining green onions.
Dinner was delicious and clean up was super easy. The nontoxic nonstick surface is slippery so nothing gets stuck to it. I can just wipe it down with a soft sponge and everything slides right off.
At a 5.5 quart size, the Perfect Pot was more than big enough to handle our small dinner for three. I look forward to trying out more recipes using the pot, like a dutch oven lasagna or maybe even baking bread.
Holiday Gifting
The Perfect Pot and Always Pan are an entire cooking system and really have helped make cooking enjoyable and fun. Is it weird to say I look forward to bringing out my pretty blue pot, with my holiday guests gathered around the table?
