Vintage Fall Mantel Decor
Things are feeling cozy in here. I'm joining my blogger friends on the
Seasonal Simplicity tour hosted by Krista at
The Happy Housie
and today we're sharing our fall mantels.
This season, I've used vintage fall mantel decor to create a warm and inviting look. I really love dressing up this area of my home. The fireplace is the focal point of our living room so the decor sets the tone for the rest of the space and I want this one to say "Sit, relax, and enjoy time by the fire".
Vintage Fall Decor
Much like the season, an attractive fall mantel should have both colour and
texture.
Last year's traditional mantel
featured old leather bound books and a
DIY faux flower arrangement
set in a champagne bucket. In other years I've decorated a
moody and romantic mantel, rich in red tones, or a
simple mantel
with a wheat sheaf and mini pumpkins.
This year, I went all in for warm, orange hues and organic textures. This
autumnal palette works so beautifully against the neutral clay colour of the
walls (Farrow and Ball Ammonite).
This vignette is anchored by the two vintage prints. I can't resist equestrian
art or ship prints. They feel timeless and classic. The details found in
vintage art bring a richness and character to this display.
The warm hues in the art are echoed by the other accessories. The antique
jugs, the bound books, and even the underside of the faux magnolia leaves
display a moody orangey brown colour.
Have you noticed the trend of displaying large tall branches in vases? Check

for inspiration. I don't have any attractive trees or bushes to scavenge from
so I'll settle for this mini version using a
stoneware vase from Target and
faux branches from Ikea.
One other detail worth noting is the use of metals to enhance and contrast
with the natural accents. The
brass fireplace screen
is a constant and always looks lovely against the black marble surround. I've
also tucked in vintage candlestick holders, their patinaed finishes left to
admire, amongst the faux magnolia leaves.
And while this is a pretty view, I think it looks just as enticing at night...
I hope you've enjoyed this look at my vintage fall mantel decor. I have more
of my fall decor to show you in the coming days so come back for a visit!
