Free Fall Printable Wall Art
And just like that, it feels like fall. It's definitely been warm sweater
weather over here lately. We've had an awesome summer but I am ready to don
layers, enjoy a pumpkin spice and cozy up with fall decor. One quick and easy
way to update your home for the fall season is with art.
Autumn art prints can bring fall colour to your living room, dining room,
kitchen or wherever you wish to display your fall prints. Today I'm joining my
blogger friends on the Seasonal Simplicity tour to bring you free printables
to use in your seasonal decor.
I'm not only sharing an original free printable wall art print, but I'm also
sharing one of my favourite free sources for high resolution quality art!

Free Fall Wall Art
For my original art print, I thought I would welcome autumn by celebrating all
of the great things it has to offer.
I hope you enjoy
this Fall Bucket List print
which I created. It's a perfect way to get into the spirit of fall. From
snuggling under cozy blankets to jumping in a pile of colorful leaves, getting
lost in corn mazes and eating apple pie, you can check off your favorite ways
to enjoy the autumn season.
The
print
features a simple design and muted tones like the watercolor pumpkin. It has a
farmhouse style so I thought I would display it on the peg rail in our
basement kitchen. The
wooden frame mount
and the
peg rail
are from H&M.
This is a unique and budget-friendly way to display art. H&M has a great
selection of inexpensive
peg rails in different lengths, stains, and styles
so do check them out if you're in need of one!
I've displayed my free printable art alongside
vintage scissors and my
new waffle weave towel from my favourite french linen shop,
Atelier du Presbytere. Above the rail I've hung my straw wreath which I bought from IKEA almost a
decade ago.
Against the white background of the walls (painted in
Simply White by Benjamin Moore), the textures and muddy, natural colours elicit a cozy feeling for my fall
home decor.
Free Audubon Art
But it takes more than one piece of art to decorate a home for the season. I'm
always on the lookout for
free art sources
and today I've got a great one to share!
Whether you're creating a gallery wall or updating your wall decor in each
room of your home, did you known you can create beautiful free fall printables
using
art available from the National Audubon Society?

John J. Audubon's famous book
Birds of America
features 435 watercolors of North American birds and you can download them for
free for personal use.

These high resolution files are excellent for making larger prints. You can
print them on your home printer or have them professionally printed at your
local print shop. Here's how I used Audubon's American White Pelican print
to decorate the stairwell in my last home:
Audubon offers a vast printable library so you can find just the right bird
suited to the different seasons. I used the
Autumnal Warbler
and the
Canvas Backed Duck
for these prints.
You can see with the black frame that I created my print to have it's own
built-in "mat" (i.e. a thick white border around the art). I created a large
canvas in
Canva and sized
the artwork smaller than the size of my frame. It's a simple way to get custom
art.
Here's how to create a print with a mat border:
- Measure your frame size. (My frame size was 11"x14")
- Visit your local print shop and see which of their standard print sizes is closest to your frame size without being too small. (I printed mine online at Staples. Their 11"x17" document was closest to my frame size)
- Create a document in Canva the same size as the print document. (In my case, 11"x17")
- Download the Audubon high res file. Upload that file into Canva.
- Take your frame size and subtract the size of your border around each side. This will give you the size needed for the Audubon image. For instance, my frame size was 11"x14". I wanted a 1.5" border around all sides. So, the image needed to be resized to approximately 11" - 1.5" - 1.5" wide by 14" - 1.5" - 1.5". Or, 8" x 11"
- Drag and drop the Audubon image onto your Canva document. Resize the image as indicated in step #5
- Download the document as a high quality PNG or PDF file. Have the file printed at your local print shop
- Cut the print to fit your frame
These autumn printables are the perfect addition to the bookcases in my living
room. They bring a vintage file to the room. I'm thrilled with the change (and
who doesn't like to update their decor with free stuff!). The new art has this
room feeling cozier already.
