8 Creative and Thoughtful Valentine's Day Gift Ideas To Enjoy At Home
It might seem like Christmas was just last week, but here we are, looking
ahead to Valentine's Day. The pandemic is causing havoc with delivery times
and inventory levels so now's the time to prepare that Valentine's Day gift
early.
But current restrictions might have you approaching the holiday a bit
differently. A sit-down dinner at your favourite restaurant might not be
doable but there are lots of different ways to show your loved ones you care.
Here are 8 creative and thoughtful gift ideas to celebrate Valentine's day at
home:
1. Gift an online course
All this time at home presents an opportunity to learn a new hobby and there are a wealth of online courses to be found. Has your partner always wanted to learn to knit? Is woodworking something your husband would be interested in?
It doesn't have to be all fluff and fun though. If your loved one is looking
at new career opportunities or building a new business, why not gift
business or tech courses
that help them upgrade their skills? It's a thoughtful way to show your
support.
2. Create a Valentine's Day Dessert Board
According to Pinterest,
charcuterie boards
are the hot new trend for 2021 and I think a
Valentine's Day Dessert Board
would be a great gift for the entire family to enjoy.
This
dessert board from A Pumpkin and a Princess
looks delightful and features treats like chocolate covered strawberries,
macarons, candy hearts, and of course chocolate!
3. Take an interactive class together
Make date night an event by taking an interactive class together.
Cozymeal is a site
that offers cooking and mixology classes across the US and Canada. Hosts
offer their classes in person or online, dependent on local Covid
restrictions. This
Galentine's Day PJ Brunch
featuring creme brulee french toast and pink lemonade mimosas would be a fun
one to take with your girlfriends!
4. Create a Movie Night care package
Let's face it, we're all spending more time binge-watching movies and TV
shows these days. Make the night special with a bowl full of popcorn, a
scented candle, a bottle of wine, and a
cozy sherpa blanket to
curl up under. On my recommended watch list:
- Bridgerton
- Modern Love
- To All the Boys I've Loved Before
- A Star Is Born
- Dash & Lily
- La La Land
- Always Be My Maybe
- Any movie by Nancy Myers
5. Be active together
Do something active together to get those endorphins flowing. If weather
permits, you can go skating or try hiking somewhere new. You can also sweat
it out indoors with simple workouts at home. Sean and I got matching
bike trainers so
we can go for rides together all winter long.
6. Create an indoor escape
Craving an escape but stuck at home? Why not turn your living room into an
indoor escape. Hang up some string lights, move the furniture out and
replace with a blanket in front of the fireplace. Pack a picnic with a
variety of cheeses, fruit, and wine. You could even try out
a conversation game to
find out more about each other, or turn on the Spotify and have an impromptu
dance party.
7. Put together a Favourite Things basket
Do you know your partner really well? Put together a gift basket filled with
all of their favourite things. These don't need to be expensive or
extravagant. The items just need to be carefully considered. Here's a few
ideas:
- their favourite chocolate bar
- a book from an author they love
- their go-to hair product, toothpaste, lip balm, or skin care product
- a gift card to their favourite clothing store
- favourite cereal or box of cookies
- the coffee beans or tea bags they like
- a bottle of their favourite wine
- a bouquet of flowers
8. Take out dinner
I'm not sure about you but one gift I would love these days is a day where I
don't have to cook anything. Not a single meal, not a snack every two hours,
nothing to defrost or menu to plan. That sounds like heaven!
So, while you might not be able to enjoy a fine sit down meal, you can
support your local restaurants who are undoubtedly hurting right now and
order take out. Make it an occasion and order from more than one spot. Get
your entrees from one place and dessert from another. Spread the love this
Valentine's Day!
What do you think? Would your partner enjoy getting one of these gifts? I've
already ordered some of Sean and Chloe's
favourite candies
for #2 and I'm gathering small items for #7. It'll be fun to celebrate.
