Fall Fireplace Decor
And just like that, it's suddenly feeling like fall. Welcome friends! Today I'm sharing my DIY fall fireplace decor as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Series hosted by The Happy Housie and featuring 30+ inspiring and simple mantel decorating ideas. Have you redecorated for the season? What better place to start than with the heart of the fall home, the fireplace. Let me show around our fall fireplace decor.
Modern Fall Mantel Decor
In our home, we might as well call this time of year "fireplace season". There's rarely a day where we don't turn the fireplace on. We use it not only for warmth, but also for ambience and a sense of comfort. This is a gas fireplace but it has realistic looking logs and embers which would make you think it's a real wood-burning fireplace. It has an open front which we've accented with our modern fireplace screen.
I really love decorating the mantel and have pinned so many fall fireplace decor ideas. At Christmastime, I go lush and vibrant (here's last year's bountiful display) but for fall? I keep the fall fireplace mantel decor simple. A look that is more minimal and muted seems in tune with a season marked by falling leaves, changing colours, and gardens going into a deep sleep. The modern fall fireplace decor feels current yet classic.
How do I decorate my mantel for fall?
Lately, I've been more focused on decorating with things I already have, or decorating with vintage and thrifted items, than with buying new. Fall is a perfect time to pull out those well-loved pieces that already have character and history and beautiful patina and showcase them on your fall fireplace mantle.
I also like to bring in warmer colours at this time of year. Brown, burgundy, ochre... the colours inside mimic the changing scenery outside.
Decorating with art is one of my favourite ways to create a unique and personal look. I picked up this portrait at Collier Collection in Prince Edward County a few weeks ago. Surprisingly, I found the art in a small barn full of vintage wares - and no shopkeeper in sight! Payment was by the honour system (I wrote down what I purchased and left the money in a box). I love that about the County! The crock was another vintage find from MacCool's Reuse. Don't you just love the texture and colour? It looks like it has lots of stories to tell.
Instead of a single print or a mirror, I've decided to use two prints atop the mantel. You might recognize these botanical prints from our bedroom renovation. Their subject matter and delicate style feel right for fall. These particular prints are out of stock but I think these similar fern prints, also from Rainsford Company, would be lovely as seasonal decor as well. I love these prints in our bedroom but it's fun to move your art around and keep it feeling fresh.
All decorated for fall and hardly a pumpkin in sight ;) Fall mantel decor doesn't need to be all about the gourds. There's many ways to create a seasonal look that feels right for you. Now hop on over and visit my blogging friends for more fall fireplace decor ideas.
