Cottage Bedroom Refresh
Do you make your bed every day? I do. Though its a chore to fold the sheets neatly and pile the four (or nine!) pillows back on the bed, I do love how a made bed looks. Even more so, I love climbing into a neat bed at the end of the day.
I took advantage of the summer sales to pick up some new bedding for the cottage and give the bedroom a refresh. I wanted the bedding to feel bright and summery while working with the sheets we already had. No surprise I stuck to blues and whites ;)
The Cortina quilt and shams from Serena and Lily are a bold hit of pattern in this room. I love that they're reversible, with a happy tulip pattern on front and caning pattern on the back. I piled on even more pattern, bringing in plaid sheets, a striped pillow, and a solid navy velvet pillow.
Even though there's a lot of pattern on the bed, the room still reads calm and quiet because of the solid headboard and neutral walls. I'm still so in love with this bed (Summer Hill Cotton bed by Universal Furniture). The tall wicker textured headboard provides great texture and makes the room feel like summer.
I took the opportunity to zhush up the nightstands too. The wood finish ties in with the bed and the wide surface provides a spot for creating pretty vignettes. I found the art and the crock in antique stores near the cottage. They feel right at home here.
Sean's side of the bed contains more thrifted art and other odds and ends. I do use faux plants at the cottage as we're not here often enough to keep real ones watered. Real or faux, it's nice to have them bedside.
Just a simple cottage bedroom refresh. I'm going to hold onto this summery feeling for as long as I can!
