Happy Mouse-o-ween
We're still a little mouse-obsessed over here. Chloe has been wearing her Disney t-shirts non-stop and she's going as Minnie Mouse for Halloween. I decided to feed the frenzy and create a Mickey Mouse glow-in-the-dark pumpkin. Here's what I did:
1. Grab a pumpkin (for the head) and two sweet dumpling squash (for the ears). You could also use small pumpkins or other round gourds for the ears.
2. Draw Mickey's face freehand on the pumpkin and carve it out. Then with painter's tape, tape off the face area.
3. Spraypaint the head and two small gourds black. Take off the painter's tape and paint the face white.
5. Optional: Apply glow in the dark paint to the face area. I had a small can of this paint lying around and thought this would be a good time to try it.
Here's our Mickey pumpkin in the daytime (the ears still need to be properly attached, using dowels):
And here's what our pumpkin would look like at night:
Yeah. Not much glowing-in-the-dark going on except for a small blemish on Mickey's temple. And the ears look a little undersized. A bit of a pumpkin fail... at least he's still cute! I'm just happy I got my carving done in time :)
