Around The House

Did you have a good weekend? The weather was ch-ch-chilly here but at least the sun was shining! We managed to make progress on a few things. I love these longer days!

HandyMan is whizzing through building Chloe's bench + bookcase. Even he was surprised at how much he accomplished in just two days. He's just finishing up the bookcase part and then we can give everything a nice coat of white paint to match the trimwork.

Chloe had her first sleepover! It was an impromptu decision but Chloe and her 4yr old and 6yr old friends were champs and (eventually) went to sleep and slept through the night. Things like this make me start to think that Chloe's a big girl... but then she goes and does this:

This is what Hide & Seek with a four-year-old looks like. HILARIOUS.

We put the kid to work this weekend too. My brother had an old unused canvas that I took off his hands. I set Chloe up in the backyard, and using Julia's tips, let her at it. We'll be putting it in her new bedroom and I'm hoping it will help her feel that the space is really hers. Plus, its really fun for me just to watch her create. There's a few more layers to go but you can see what the painting is looking like so far on my Instagram.

We also made it out to Christie Antique Show. If I had more room, I would have snapped up this mini settee for the foot of Chloe's bed. But I wasn't really looking for anything so all I took home was a decorative brass eagle. It works with the bit of an Americana kick I'm into lately with my decor, what with our star rug and star wallpaper. It was fun just to get out into the fresh air and meet up with old friends Pam and Wendy and some new-to-me bloggers Kisha, Laura, and Amy and soon-to-blogger Olivia too.

How was your weekend? Happy Memorial Day to my American friends!
