Blue Christmas

And the Christmas decorating is done for this year! Okay, not really. We still haven't put up our lights outside. I'm not sure why we're procrastinating on that but we at least have our red berry wreath and striped ribbon hanger on the door so we don't look like total Scrooges.

Indoors, I put a few more blues in the living room to tie in with the tree and the ornament swag in the hallway.  I never know how to arrange objects so I usually resort to just scattering them, like these icy blue baubles and other items on the sideboard. I always find it hard to incorporate Chloe's beachy photo into the wintry decor but this year the colours just blend right in.

Look closer and you can see a few other things. Like the eyes Chloe added on my resin reindeer - in permanent green marker. And then there's the glittered dollar store animals. One of our Advent crafts was to make glitter ornaments but Chloe much preferred to give her farm animals a facelift.

In the dining room, I put up the larger Julmys wreath and our advent calendar. I've had this wreath for about four years now and it's still a favourite. It looks best when its dressed simply, allowing the texture to take center stage.

Each of the little bags contains an activity and a tiny ornament for Chloe to put on the tiny tree which is sitting on the radiator. Some of the bags have a wrapped gift to go along with the activity and every morning when we get the next bag, Chloe has to look at the letters on the bag (the numbers are spelled out) and see if they match any of the packages. Yay for getting in a little letter recognition exercise with the toddler ;)

Only 14 more sleeps to Christmas!! Have you finished your decorating?
