Two Tone Desk Makeover

While work is still ongoing in the basement and on the book, I did manage to find a few hours to finish up part of my upcycle project for my appearance at the UsedEverywhere.com booth at Blissdom.

I know, I know, all the cool kids are doing two-tone makeovers so I decided to jump on the band wagon. I had the desk frame painted by the fabulous folks at Paint It Like New. When you really want a nice clean finish without any brushstrokes, its worth it to get your furniture professionally sprayed.

The drawers were a different story. I wanted to keep the drawer fronts the stained wood to give some contrast. I decided against having the drawer bodies sprayed white because there was the potential for the drawers to start sticking once they were installed in the desk.

So I pulled out my trusty paint brush instead. I taped off the vertical sides with painters tape then applied two coats of Para Paints/Sarah Richardson Fog SR27. Love love love this colour. Its the slightest bluey-green.

I kept the old tired pencil holder in the desk. Clean and ratty, new and old... they look so much better together. At least this part of the makeover is done. The desk chair... well, let's just say my hand is still cramped from taking out all the staples. More to come!
