Pillow Pow!

Whew! Style At Home has come and gone and I'm enjoying the aftermath... a clean house and lots of pretty flowers. I think I need to start a fresh flower budget - my house never smelled so pretty!

The photo shoot was fantastic - there is so much I want to share with you but I'll have to organize my thoughts and type it up for later this week. It was such a fun experience and I hope we get to see many more blogger homes featured in the pages of our favourite magazines.

For today, I'll share one last project I managed to finish up before the shoot. I've been wanting to change up the pillows on the living room sofa for a while. The microfibre sofa came with two matching toss cushions. I couldn't stand the blah browny colour of them but they were a good size and had plump filling so I was hesitant to just give them to Goodwill. Then I saw this pillow tutorial on Hodge:Podge. Just what I needed!

I made my way to Designer Fabrics and picked up some of this fabric for the front and a cream solid cotton for the back. The fabric is reversible so I used the side with less blue.

And POW! The new pillows add that extra hit of colour and pattern and tie in the blues of the hutch, photograph, and dresser a lot more. If you compare it to this other photo of the living room, you can see that there needed to be something blue in the lower half of the room.

That invisible zipper looks pretty good, if I do say so myself.

Thanks Barbara for the tutorial!
