A Nautical Summer Mantel
Summer days are finally here. I've been waiting for these hot and sunny days all year long so I'm not going to complain about it! Bring on all the sunshine and warm breezes, the sparkly blue waters and juicy taste of watermelon.
I'm thrilled to be joining the Seasonal Simplicity Summer Series today hosted by Krista at The Happy Housie. I'm sharing my summer mantel and clearly you can see I'm on a blue + white + orange kick.
It all started with the recent nautical craft room renovation. Adding those hits of red-orange with the blue really made that room come alive. And this combination reminds me of my youth in the 70's... my favourite shirt was a bright orange long-sleeve navy blue around the cuffs and neckline. Everything old comes back again.
I typically do a more minimal mantel (here's my spring one) but for this one I wanted a look that was more full, and vibrant, and spilling over with flowers.
I have officially managed to keep that plant on the left alive for more than a year. My first ever, thank you very much. Maybe my black thumb is giving way to green, finally.
I couldn't resist popping my striped bamboo chair into this vignette. Doesn't it scream summer? You can't go wrong with stripes.
Thanks for the visit! I'm so excited that the Seasonal Simplicity series is back again; and this time it's to celebrate Summer! Today I've joined up with a talented group of bloggers to share our simple and beautiful summer mantel {or summer vignette} ideas with you! Click on through and enjoy the inspiration...
