A Deck Update
How are we already half-way through July? We've been trying to make the most of the sunny weather (in between all.the.rain!) and one way to do that is to be outside as much as possible. Sadly, we haven't had anywhere to sit outside until now. It was about time we made some updates to our deck.
Getting a dining table out on the deck was a top priority. I like working outside in the summer and its nice to be able to eat meals outdoors too. I've been stalking this dining set for a looooooong time. It's the Crown View from Home Depot and, at only $798 for the 7-piece set, it sold out quickly. I waited for it to be restocked for weeks and by a lucky fluke a few weeks ago, I was checking the website on my phone as we were driving to the cottage and it showed there was one available and with free shipping to my house! I couldn't purchase that set fast enough.
The chairs are super comfortable and I liked the modern styling and neutral colour, though with the wooden deck and fence, I knew I needed to add a shot of colour.
Blue and white is having a design moment and I'm definitely a fan. I knew I wanted to have a striped umbrella and found this one. While in store, I also found this rug. I usually take longer to make design decisions but the summer is fleeting and there's no time to waste doing product research, ha!
I pulled out a few quick blue and white accessories... our DIY painted oars, a ceramic stool I had spray painted white. No need to rush all the details. I'll add the bits and pieces to fill out this outdoor space over time.
That's going to take a while though. Our deck is rather large, almost 40' long. There's room to add another sitting area. Or maybe some planters? Or an outdoor bar?? We still have to string up some outdoor lights too. This will probably be as far we'll get this summer though. Now excuse me while I go make myself some iced tea and grab a seat beneath that umbrella.
